The Peace of Wild Things

It's always lovely to chance upon a little gem of a read and this is beginning to be my go-to poem when I need to find rest and peace in the midst of a busy world. The Peace of Wild Things BY  WENDELL BERRY When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

what if...

what if... they were right, he was wrong try as i might, push on head strong fought the fight, bruised left and right heart in hand, run as far as I can Only then can i comprehend but it still does not make sense never does never will make it end? STOP! what if... i was right, they are gone was it wrong? you're no where to be found i choke, i fear, you're still not here heart in hand, i offer you to mend I'll soon understand all's not within my plan never was always is hope - just around the bend.

Together

My dad happens to like the author Khalil Gibran and after hearing so much about him, i decided to look him up. Stumbling across some excerpts of his work, i've picked up this one to share with you. With the number of weddings taking place this year, I think it's a beautiful piece to share :) The Prophet by Khalil Gibran – Marriage You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days. Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the sa...

Dive for Dreams

dive for dreams or a slogan may topple you (trees are their roots and wind is wind) trust your heart if the seas catch fire (and live by love though the stars walk backward) honour the past but welcome the future (and dance your death away at this wedding) never mind a world with its villains or heroes (for god likes girls and tomorrow and the earth) in spite of everything which breathes and moves, since Doom (with white longest hands neating each crease) will smooth entirely our minds -before leaving my room i turn, and (stooping through the morning) kiss this pillow, dear where our heads lived and were. Find a Centre

This came as a pleasant surprise in my mail box this morning. A connection made - God sent for sure. "Being spread thin is something that seems to happen more and more in the rush of daily life, running around getting things done for other people, all the little things that eat away at your time. And the big loss is not that of time, but of attention - the presence of the self to observe, experience and be aware of life. I think you must choose what is important." Find a center. A quiet space A hidey-hole behind closed doors where the outside world rages and to look at it madly boiling away this blink of an eternity with a mildly inquiring eye, and watch, that while the world is the world is the world is all you ever have you cannot own it or control it wrap it or ride it without first looking outside, and looking within, finding the sweet strange splitsecond spot in the center of the whirlwind. Don't lose yourself.
